No Burglaries in Four Month's!

Still problems with local Car Crime

Sedgefield Village Crimewatch Panel heard the good news that there had been no house burglaries in the village in the last four months. There had, however been further problems with incidents of thefts of vehicles and thefts from vehicles.

The news was give at the bi-monthly meeting of the Village Crimewatch Panel, when local motorists were urged to join the "Over 25" Scheme. The scheme allows motorists to display a sticker in their vehicle which visually restricts drivers to over 25's, except with permission. Should the police spot a vehicle with an over 25 sticker being driven by someone under that age, then they will stop them to make further enquiries.

It was reported that a roof repairer had obtained relatively large sums of money from both members of one local household, and had then carried out a minimal amount of work on the property. Residents were urged to ring the police if they came across further instances of these suspicious roof repairers.

The Chairman of the Village Crimewatch Panel praised local residents for their efforts in reducing the crime level but urged residents to continue to keep a watchful eye and not to become complacent.
